Ahead of the final round of the European Parliament president elections, S&D Group president and candidate for future EP president Gianni Pittella, sent the following statements to all MEPs:
“I call on all of you to assume your responsibility and support my candidacy in the final round of the EP president elections.
“We need a president fit for the challenges ahead and confident to take the necessary actions in these times of economic and political crisis.
“A president who can act as a guarantor of pluralism, equal political dignity and transparency in the decision-making process for all MEPs and groups.
“A president who is First among Equals - Primus inter Pares”.
